ABOUT

Nice to meet you!

My name is Sonja, and I run Ballachulish Bed & Biscuits – an exclusive luxury home boarding service for dogs. I am fully licensed by The Highland Council and fully insured.

MY STORY

My perspective on dogs has evolved significantly; they are not just pets or family members but remarkable beings from whom I learn every day.

On April 1st, 2023, my beautiful border collie, Sorrell, and I joyfully opened the gates to Ballachulish Bed & Biscuits. The support from our friends and neighbours was overwhelming, and soon, our calendar was filled with bookings. We've had so much fun meeting wonderful dogs and their trusting owners. Since our launch, over 100 people have registered with us, entrusting their dogs to our care for periods ranging from days to multiple weeks. Many of our clients return throughout the year, relying on us in ways we never imagined.
Please have a read of some of the wonderful things people are saying about us on Google.

At the beginning of 2023, I was honoured to be invited to join the committee of the Lochaber and District Canine Society (LDCS). I graciously accepted and have been enjoying the experience of working with a wonderful team dedicated to promoting responsible dog ownership. Through our efforts, we teach dog owners to train their pets for everyday life situations, fostering a harmonious relationship between humans and their canine companions.

I had relocated from London to the beautiful Highlands of Scotland in August 2022. Alongside Ballachulish Bed & Biscuits, I continue to run my dog care service, Dogs at Heart, in London, which I have now successfully managed for seven years. Despite the change in location, I oversee all operations with the help of my trusted staff, ensuring our high standards are maintained. Our commitment to excellent service is reflected in our 5-star reviews on Google.

Throughout my career, I have accumulated a wealth of experience with various dog breeds, from the tiny Chihuahua to the majestic Malamute. This experience has fulfilled me with the knowledge and confidence to handle a wide range of behaviours and personalities, ensuring that each dog receives the care and attention they deserve.

Over the years, my fascination with dog language and behaviour continues to grow. This passion has led me to help many clients overcome challenging behaviours in their own dogs, a task I have approached with great success and pride. My perspective on dogs has evolved significantly; they are not just pets or family members but remarkable beings from whom I learn every day. My own dog, Sorrell, continues to be an exceptional teacher.

Working with dogs has always been my passion and fulfilling this dream in the serene setting of the Highlands, surrounded by mountains and vast skies, is nothing short of a blessing. Each day spent with these incredible animals is a testament to the joy and fulfilment that they bring into my life and the lives of many others.
